  1. Hi jo, can you tell me , why in Australia we pay DOUBLE for the same mixer? And even more for some attachments. Import costs are NOT a factor , as actual, shipping costs are relatively cheap. (As I have worked in importing before) I absolutely love all things kitchenaid, but can not justify being ripped off (not to sound rude) that’s why we are seriously considering a Kenwood.

    • Hi Vince,

This is NOT my department within the KitchenAid world. I develope recipes and do presentations with KitchenAid! I however as a professional Home Economist can tell you no other mixer is like this one. No other has direct drive (much more grunt for much less elctrical cost), enormous reduction is noise – KA is very quiet and finally NO other mixer can complete with the 67 places the attachments touch as they spiral around the bowl(very special planetary action) also NO other mixer is a solid metal construction and hand essembled in the USA. The warranty is 5 years for the mixer.

I am very sorry you feel this way in regard to being ripped off. The cost of the frieght and taxes is most of the issue. I would suggest you speak to customer service or perhaps someone in marketing.

Recipe cooking questions.. I’m all yours.

      JO

      • Hi Vince,
Glad you’ve raised this – I too am very frustrated with the markup the importer has on KitchenAid in Australia. Jo, although your focus is recipies, it is right to raise this here, as its a consumer forum and its obvious your role is to promote further sales.

There is no doubt the product is great – nothing compares in my mind – but thats not what we are talking about. We shouldn’t have to pay so much more than what consumers pay in USA. Importing costs are a fraction of the cost – the importer has a monopoly in Australia and is slugging us with as much as he/she can get away with.

And the crazy thing is, if the products (attachments) were a little lower in price, I’d probably buy all of them. I love spending money! but I really don’t like feeling ripped off – and thats the feeling that is starting to accompany KA. Its a real shame and damages the brand when its so blatent. Perhaps the importer needs to revisit the numbers.
        Anita

      • Hi Vince and Anita,

Please see the detailed response to your questions regarding the cost of KitchenAid in Australia.

“Thank you for your enquiry regarding KitchenAid in Australia.
We have been the Australian importer & distributor for KitchenAid for many years and this is a question that has always come with the territory, never more so than today, where globalisation is the newest “buzzword”. There are of course a significant number of extra costs when any product is modified and exported from its home market including but not limited to; production, engineering (in the case of many electrical products), freight and local distribution costs. Perhaps the most significant costs in terms of attempting to compare foreign pricing, are the significant number of duplicated costs. Examples of these include ranging, warehousing and servicing the products, the costs of warranty administration, certifying local repairers and the like. Also, there are the costs of training re-sellers and demonstrators in Australia.”- Marketing Division – Peter Mcinnes KitchenAid

“We would love to see the wonderful KitchenAid range in many more Australian homes, and our efforts to make this happen are ongoing. In the 2nd quarter of 2013, we have successfully negotiated and introduced more competitive pricing across the majority of the KitchenAid portfolio and we are working feverishly on maintain the competitiveness of this outstanding range of products. We thank you for your interest in KitchenAid, and assure you of our continued effort to provide value and quality in Australian kitchens.”- Marketing Division – Peter Mcinnes KitchenAid

And from myself as the Home Economist to the brand, I look forward to assisting you with any KitchenAid ‘recipe related’ questions in the future.

        Regards,
        JO

    • Hello again,
Chicken burgers are yummy. They are ‘softer’ in texture so yes i would add a couple of tablespoons of cornflour to the mixture.
There is a recipe for chicken tandoori burgers you can read on the website

      Jo

  2. Hi Jo. Saw you make the wonderful hamburgers on TVSN last weekend and want to try. Purchased the grinder for my Foxy Roxy but cannot find the recipe. What are they actually called please? Also what beef do you recommend for grinding please?

    • Hello,
The recipe is double cheese beef burgers and i sued beef but you could use a combination of beef and veal or lamb.

The grinder is a sensational attachment

    • Hi Kylie,
There are several retilers that will have that colour.
You could call customer service on 1800 990 990 , I think they could look that up for you?

The colour is Boysenberry and yes she is very pretty! Once you have your mixer, please have a look at all the tripple tested and sensational recipes on http://www.kitchenaid.com.au I am always here to help you with recipe questions.

  3. Hi Jo I recently purchsed a food processor from TVSN it arrvived few days before Christmas. Since that time I hve only used it once to make cookies. I went to use it last night to make a scone mixture but my machine would start has power but would mix. Would this be because I haven’t inserted the bowls and lid correctly.

    • Hi Lisa,
Yes it quite possibly is that the bowls are not aligned. particularly as you have made cookies – I hope they where delcious.

Lets start from scrath: Remove all the bowls from the processor base.
Attach the large bowl, locking it in. The add the attachment (multi purpose blade), slotting it in.

Make sure the BIG food pusher is in the cover (the unit will NOT work if this is not in). This could of also been what happened? The food pusher must be in the cover – it activates the whole unit.

If all are lined up, push the ‘go’ button and the processor will work – and quickly!!

Once you have used the processor a couple of times you will be able to pop it together with your eyes closed.

Given that its a long weekend (Peter Mcinnes / KitchenAid) customer service will not be open till next Tuesday – but you can call them and they will chat you through this also.
      The number is freecall 1800 990 990

There are some great recipes (all written and tested by me) on the http://www.kitchenaid.com.au website – these will inspire you.

      I hope I have helped

  4. Hi Jo,

My kids have requested pikelets for school snacks, I found one on the kitchenaid website but I only have the standmixer. What will be the adjusted times for it?

    Thanks!

    • Hi Jo,
Yes absolutely!….. all bowls and attachments fit on all models.

It is the perfect culinary set of bowls a glass and stainless steel

  5. Hi Joe,
I have a question regarding the Sourdough 🍞receipe on page 102 of the ultimate cookbook. How do I keep the starter going after I have taken the required quantity to make the bread?

    • Hi Heather,

Starters keep for a couple of days.

Its sort of a constant thing, you need to be making sour dough regularly so you use it up every couple of days…… I keep it in a sealed containerin the fridge wrapped in a old towl to insulate it a little. Remove from the fridge and allow to come upto room temp before using for the next loaf. It keeps about 3 days.
I just love sour dough bread !

      Happy baking

      Jo

  6. Does the new glass 5qt bowl fit all machines I have a model 5KSM150PS had it since 2006 and wouldn’t be without it.

  7. Hi Jo
I have a KitchenAid Blender and even though I’ve had it about 3 years you can count on one hand the times it’s been used. It definitely hasn’t had a hard life! When I get it out and use it, the plastic round cog bit that the blender sits on seems to melt so I get a few minutes then the blades don’t turn anymore. The first time it happened I took it back to the shop I’d bought it from, it was just out of warranty and I had to pay for a new part and for them to put it on for me. I think I’ve only used it once since then and I went to make soup the other night and the same thing happened again. So dissatisfied considering the money I paid for it and now it looks like I’ll have to come up with an extra $20 or $30 to get that part replaced every time I use it. Surely this should not happen, it’s not like it’s not like it’s a cheap blender. Of course the shop I purchased it from wasn’t willing to do anything about it last time so I expect the same this time. What do you think?

    • Hi Danielle
That does sound strange and not like something I have heard of before. I can appreciate your frustration. I would suggest you give the lovely people in customer service a call on 1800 990 990 and they will be able to assist you.
Once it gets sorted out or if you have any other KitchenAid appliances I would love to help you with any cooking questions that may pop up.
      Happy cooking
      Jo :)

  8. Hi
I have the pasta attachments for the stand mixer and was wondering if you hany tips to get the pasta to roll through smoother, mine seems to stick a bit. Also on the pasta press the pasta dough dowdy push through easily.
    Thanks
    Anthea

    • Hi Anthea,
I wonder of you are using the recipe from the official recipe site? Please have a look at http://www.kitchenaid.com.au

I feel your pasta is too tough or dry, it should be silkie to touch.
      here are some further tips”

      1. make sure your flour is fresh. Use plain flour (or pasta flour from the supermarket)
      2. be sure to add olive oil.
      3. knead the dough until soft, then wrap in plastic wrap and REST for 30 minutes
The pasta attachment is a dream to use. The pasta will rol smoothly through the rollers
      4. if it a little sticky, lightly dust with extra flour.

You can also pop onto utube, write in KitchenAid pasta making and a segemnt with me will appear for you.

Please let me know if this helps you or if i can assist you further.
      Jo :)

    • Hi laurel,
The answer is Yes & No!! The USA models require a transformer for them to work here. The transformer is an ugly large black box that will need to sit on your bench. It also makes a weird noise and the overall power thats reaches the standmixer is reduced :( Finally the transformers are not cheap.

The USA models will NOT have any waranty in Australia.

Keep the Aust version in your sites, you will so love the rubsut, effecirecy and quite direct drive motor. The Aust models come with a 5 year warranty.

I hope I have helped you
      Jo

  9. Hey there,

I’m looking into buying a mixer and was just curious to know what the difference between the k5 delux and the ksm150? I been battling with myself trying to figure out which mixer to buy! I’ve looked at the kenwood, kitchenaid and a bosco! Have you heard about the bosco at all?

    Regards Trudie : )

    • Hi Trudie,
The K5 is a ‘more commercial’ model. It is generally found in resaurants and cafes. It has larger attachments which means it can mix a larger amount in the bowl.
We recommend if you are going to be baking bread and making pasta regularly , you would benefit form the larger size. It also has a ‘bowl lift’ lever in stead of the tilt head.
When creating recipes i work between both models.
The KSM150 has a total weight capacity of 1.5 kg
The K5 capacity is 1.7 kg

Both the KSM150 & the K5 are hand essembled in the USA, come with a 5 year warranty and are of solid metal construction and of course have the famous direct drive motor (no belts) and 67 points touched in the bowl, with the iconic planetary mixing action. The mixers are 94 years old in design this year.

Th KSM150 has many many choices in colour, the K5 are available in a few colours.

You might like to look at some of my many mnay (there are hundreds) of recipes on the website (www.kitchenaid.com.au) these will inspire you.

I do not know anything of the other brands to asist you with

I hope I have helped you
      Jo

  10. Hi Jo,
I know it is not technically a Kitchenaid question, however I was wondering if you had any advice on gas versus electric ovens. I am in the process of re-doing my kitchen and was wondering what the professionals prefer.
    Regards
    Tanya

  11. Hi Jo
I recently seen your demo at the Gluten Free show in Melbourne, you mentioned a ratio of making your own Gluten Free Flour, just wondering if you could share some hints on just getting started in making my own. I seen all the different items you showed but couldn’t remember the formula thanks Michelle

    • Hi Michelle,
I like to use and combination of
      1/2 cup cornflour
      1/4 cup fine rice flour
      1/4 cup tapioca flour

I like the rice flour found in Asian food stores (red writing on the pkt). If making a heavier cake, biscuit etc I often use brown rice flour inplace of white rice flour.

There are also come good pre made flours available; I particularly like Vitarium flour.
      Happy Baking

  12. I have a KitchenAid mixer as well as a liquidiser both of which I love. Are there any grating and slicing attachments I can getI

    Penny

    • Hi Penny,
There is am attachment for the standmixer called the rotar shredder slicer. It is sensational for slicing shredding and grating. It comes with an initial 3 drums then there is a additional set of three for extra things. I use all of them constanty and really like to make fresh almond meal , grate parmesan as well as 101 other things.
Pop on to the KitchenAid web site and have a look at attachments.
Pleased you are enjoyng your KitchenAid appliances

  13. Hi there,
I have just purchased a kitchen aid artisian blender and when you put water in it it shoots out the top of the lid, have you heard of liquids coming out of the top before.
    thanks Ruth.

    • Hi Ruth,
No, your problem is not normal. I have used the blender many many many times with 100% delight and sucess.

  14. Hi Jo

After wanting one for many years I’ve finally splashed out on an Artisan which arrived today. I’m loving using it so far, but I’m worried that something may not be quite right with it. Every fourth revolution or so the flat beater clips the side of the bowl and even with only a few minutes use I can see the beater getting slightly scraped and and a scratch starting in the bowl. Adjusting the clearances as shown on your DVD didn’t work as the tilt lock stopped working before the clipping stopped. I returned the clearance screw to where it originally was and tried putting the bowl in with the handle to the left, rather than the right as it was the other times, and the clearance seems fine – no clipping/banging at all. Should it make a difference which way the bowl goes in like this?

    Cheers
    Eleanor

    • Hi Elanor,

No it should not make a difference, the bowl just has to sit flat. Hmmm, pleased all good now… but how about you call customer service on 1800 990 990. The team are terrrific – the lovely girls will talk it through with you.

Any recipe issues or questions please come back to me
      Happy Cooking

  15. Hi Jo

Yes will google UK website for further info but will definitely check out your recipes. Yes you have helped and many thanks for that.

    Best wishes
    Jan

  16. Hi Jo

I live in the Uk and just stumbled across your demonstration on the slicer shredder attachment. I have the Artisan Stand mixer and am thinking about purchasing the shredder attachment, so it was great to see your demo. Have recently purchased my mixer and must say it makes the best pizza base ever using fresh yeast, I am very pleased with my purchase. I am also considering purchasing the ice cream bowl attachment. Do you know if they have a similar site in the UK that shows demos.

    Keep up the good work!
    Best regards
    Jan.

    • Hi Jan,
Goodness lovely to hear from you. The mixer is a true gem and so loved by millions of us!The attachemntds open a whole new world.

I do not know anything about the recipe / video situation in the U.K as each country really runs independantly. Australia produces its very own recipes, DVD etc. The recipes are terrifc (if I do say my self)!! I have worked hard at making easy, failproof, common sense family recipes. The website is http://www.kitchenaid.com.au
I would suggest you google your U.K website for more info?

I hope I have helped you
      Happy Cooking

      Jo

  17. Hello, Im desperate for an Almond Cream Toaster, do you know of anywhere I can still purchase one, Im in Perth WA Australia. Thanks

      Good Luck!

  18. Hi Jo
I have recently purchased a Artisan mixer, I would like to have a go at making my own gnocchi, just wondering what speed should I use with the flat beaters to mash the potato and should I use the dough hook once I start adding flour?
    Regards
    Sue

    • Hi Sue,
The mixer does gnocchi brilliantly. basically mash the potatoes quickly with the flat beater(speed 6). Turn off the mixer, add the eggs and flour and mix on speed 4-6 until just combined. It doesn’t need much.

I use potato flour, the end result is soooooooooooo tender and delicious!
      Happy Cooking

  19. Hello,
Can you please tell me what the Kitchenaid ‘Water Jacket’ attachment is for. I found this under kitchenaid attachments, but I have no idea what it is for or how to use it.
    Cheers Deb

    • HI Debra,
The water jacket is used for high end recipes or bycommercial chefs & kitchens. Used to cool down mixtres quickly or for holding contant tempertaures. Mostly used for mousses, confectionary and chocolate work etc.
Not a common attachment for general home style cooking.

I hope I have helped you
      Jo

  20. Hi Jo I have the ksm150 and I would like to purchase some accessories for grinding, mincing, grating and making pasta etc. could you suggest the best ones as I know you can buy the in sets but I am confused as to which ones would benefit me best. Also I have seen the new Pasta press and was wondering if you have used it?. Is it easy to use and do you need to buy the other pasta attachments eg to roll it flat as well? Sorry for all the questions, but I want to purchase to rite things.
    Thanks Sarah

    • Hi Sarah,
The attachments are all wonderful and have so many various uses and roles. My 3 favourites are:
The pasta roller set – these roll the pasta into sheets for lasagne and then you have two different cutters. 1 for fettucine and 1 for spaghetti
The food grinder: this is the most amazing micer and grinder for all meats, cooked and raw fruits, vegetables and herbs. I also use it to grind breadcrumbs and biscuit bases for cheesecakes. the food grinder is the base attachment that becomes a sausgae stuffer, when you add the stuffing set to it.
The rotary shredder slicer is for slicing, all grating, shredding etc. It has additional drums for grating fine cheese and making almond meal and other drumns for puree and julienne.
After this there is also a pasta press (for various shaped pasta), the ice cream attachment and I also like the grain mill for grinding grains , lentils and spices.
the ravioli attachment has also been popular .
The KitchenAid is just that a ‘kitchen’ ‘aid’, beacause it does just about everything you could need. Start with a couple of the attachments and add as you go along, your mixer will change your culinary world!!
      Happy Cooking
      Jo

  21. Thanks for your reply Jo, I was wondering why I hadn’t seen them anywhere.
As for the new improved version possibly becoming available soon for the KSM150, that is good for owners of that model, but what about the K5 Deluxe models??
I found a business named “fully baked” and they have a “beater blade” range. After contacting them, they said that they have a beater/scraper KA-5L for my KitchenAid K5 Deluxe mixer. It is available with the standard grey blade, red blade or pink blade. Have you heard of this range and what are your thoughts? :-) :-) :-) :-)

  22. Hi Jo,
Just a quick question in regards to the “POURfect Bowl Scraper/Beater” attachment.
I was wondering where I can purchase one from? Can’t find them anywhere lately and am curious as to whether they are no longer available? I have a “K5 Deluxe” mixer.
    Kind regards,
    Claire :-)

    • Hi Claire,
At the monent there is NOT a scrape a bowl attachment available. There was a attachment available a year or so aago, but it didn’t have the long term use KitchenAid demands and some of the attachments were cracking and tearing.
Be patient as I do think a newer improved version will be available soon. However it will only be for the KSM150 model at this stage.

I hope I have helped you.
      Jo

  23. Hi Jo,
I just bought the new Kitchenaid Pasta Press. Very happy with how my Rigatoni turned out.
However, i did noticed my machine (Artisan Candy Apple) got quick hot at some point, is that normal?
I followed the recipe provided, and the exact instruction using speed 6 for rigatoni, do i need to stop the machine and let it cool down a bit rather then keep going? The manual didnt really mention on this aspect.
By the way, How long can i run my Artisan non-stop?

    Thanks

    Regards,
    Chee

    • Hi Chee,
You sound like to are having great sucess – the pasta press is easy to you. the only thing to remember it ti have the dough quite dry, so it easy presses through the extruder.
Regarding the length of time you cab run your machine non stop…it depends on what you are mixing / making.

The manual recomends you only put two batches through at a time (this is quiet a lot of pasta)! After two consecutive batches, let it cool down for at least 1 hour.
yes PLEASE stick to the speeds recommended, especially for pasta as the dough is very dry and strong. Please only knead the dough on speed 1 or 2. yes the rigatoni can be presses on speed 6.
The will feel warm as like a car engine will, this is not a concern.
Enjoy your press. There are two of my recipes on http://www.kitchenaid.com.au I can’t wait to create more!
      Happy Cooking
      Jo

  24. Hi Jo
The other day I was watching TVSN and you had made a lovely ice cream recipe which was egg free and used butter milk. It was sent to you via a viewer who won a CWA cookoff. I have searched for the recipe on your Kitchenaid website and on the the TVSN site. Would you be kind enough to forward the recipe it looks delicious. Comment on taste was that it tasted like Sherbert and had a touch of rose water and pink colouring.
    Regards

  27. Just wondering do the kitchen aid attachments from the USA work on our Australian kitchen aid mixers? eg the pasta press for making macaroni etc

    • Hello,
Some will, but they DO NOT have a warranty, can be replaced or be serviced if required.

You are much better to purchase the Australian attachments from official retailers.

      Happy Cooking
      Jo

  28. Thanks so much Jo for your prompt response and reassurance. I will follow the advice and let you know how we go, and I look forward to enjoying your web page and recipes too.

    Once again, thank you

    Susan

  29. Dear Jo

My husband purchased me a kitchen aid a few years ago for my birthday and I love it. However recently we noticed a few drips of oil around the chrome ring around the base of the motor whenever I used it. I’ve cleaned it after each use, however just recently I left the motor in the upright position after use and cleaning (overnight) and then found a trickle of oil down the stand arm and about a good tablespoon or more of oil had leaked down the arm onto the bench. I rang the Peter McInnes hot-line number and was advised to turn the machine for 5 minutes each day for the next week and it should fix the problem, and was told the machine should be used not left sitting. However if it still leaked oil. I was given a contact of an authorized agent to repair my kitchen aid. I am concerned a seal may have dried out and cracked. I will contact the agent in the new year for repairs, but wasn’t expecting this problem with my kitchen aid and I’m concerned once its repaired my machine will not be the same. Can you please advise.

    kind regards
    Susan

    • Hi Susan,
Please do not be too concerned, your mixer will be the same and last many many many years. I have three mixers, but my very first mixer is now over 20 years old. Yes with standing and not being used regularly – the oil can leak a little.
Customer service has advised you correctly. Please run as they suggested and if you do need end up needing a little service.. your mixer will be like new.
I use all of my ‘girls’ each week as I am constantly creating recipes and cooking each day… but I still run all the machines to keep them working well and lubricated.
The repair technicians are very highly trained and your mixer will be well looked after.
      Please do not worry.
I would love to hear from you again soon as to how your mixer is going
      Happy Cooking
      Jo

  30. Hi Jo,
I just wanted to know if you have used the scraper beater on your stand mixer. My baby is the 90th Ann. one and I would like to get one, but I don’t want to risk damaging it. I know that the head height may have to be adjusted. What are your thoughts?
    Adriana

    • Hi Adriana,
Untill recently yes there was a scraper bowl available fr the standmixer. it was found to be inconsistant and some were tearing after several uses… therefore it has been discontinued.
I myself hope another better ‘model’ is quickly created as i have to admit i loved using it……

      Happy Cooking
      Jo

  31. Hello Jo, hoping you can helpo me. Now that I havbe received my new Kitchenaid, I was thinking of purchasing a couple of Kitchenaid Cook books also, as a starter what wouldyou recommend I start with?

Please also take a look at my recipes on http://www.petermcinness.com.au they are ‘free’ and tripple tested…. I am sure you will find many that will become favouite recipes in your weekly repotiore.

  32. I have a very old standard mixer (about 13years old) It has only needed one small repair about a year ago. But, know the little black knob on the speed control slide has split and fell off, am I able to replace this and if so what do I need to do

    • Hi leonie,
That is easily fixed. You can order all spare parts from KitchenAid suppliers or call customer service on 1800 990 990 and they will advise you.

  33. Hi, i am wanting to buy my sister.. an amateur cook, a food processor or a stand mixer.. Can u bake cakes using any of theses tools?? what are the advantages and disadvantages of both, as i am confused as what to get her. Shes moving into a small apartment and i was worried about the large size of food processors compared to that of the stick mixers.
    thanks so much

    • Hi Alex.
How lovely of you and what a beautiful gift. The KitchenAid standmixer is sensational for all mixing, kneading, whipping and you can add to it with many additional extras allowing you too… roll and cut pasta, mince meats, slice, chop grate and make ice cream – you name just a few. The standmixer has been made for over 90 years and is still handmade in the USA. It is the sort of appliance your sister will have for many many many years. They loved all over ther wrld and come with a 5 year warranty.
The KitchenAid processor is also a fast, robust work horse. It is also made of die cast metal and has a set of 3 bowls and many blades. Food processors are for fast easy food preparations and yes it allows for lots of various preparations. But it is not like the standmixer and can’t really becompared to it. The processor comes with 10 year warranty on the motor.

You question is often asked and most people find they begin with a standmixer and then also want the food processor (or vise versa)! They both have there place in cooking. However i can assure you if you purchase KitchenAid you are buying exceptional quality.
I am not sure of wat your sister cooks but everyone just everyone ‘usually’ adores they Standmixer!

I hope I have helped you
      Jo

  34. G’day Jo
I was listening to a lady talk about her pasta attachments and she said she is about to buy one that makes spiral noodles/pasta can u please tell me if this is available in Australia
    cheers

    • Hi Shelley,
Yes there is a new pasta attachment available in Australia. We have only had it for a couple of months and has qucikly gained a following! It does indeed make a great selection of shapes.
Please check the website for your local stockist http://www.petermcinnes.com.au or you can call customer servic on 1800 990 990

  35. Hi Jo,
I have just got a KSM 150 stand mixer and the ice-cream maker attachment. I tried to make ice-cream today for the first time but I could not figure to how to attach the paddle to the rotor. Could you advise me how to do this.
    Thankyou

    • Hi Jillian,
Oh how frustrating. The ice cream bowl has a special seperate attachment which fits onto the standmixer.
In your box with the ice cream bowl you also have a ‘drive assembly’ this slides onto the beater shaft. The paddle sits in the frozen bowl and when the head of the mixer is lowered the assembly will fit onto the paddle – which makes it turn. The manual that came with the attachment explains it and has images (which makes it easier). Please look at page 5 in the book.

You can also call customer service on 1800 990 990 and the team will help you.

  36. Hi Jo, I’ve just bought a KSM150 from a store in Sydney and purchased an ice-cream maker via Amazon.com, when reading the instructions the pictures show how to attach the churn to the beater shaft. My issue is that the spring loaded shroud on the shaft prevents it from properly fitting the machine. Is the ice-cream maker sold in Australia a different model than that sold in the US?

    • Hi Suzanne,
Thats fabulous you have your standmixer and the ice cream churn, but i am afraid there is a small problem with the churn.
Please call customer service on 1800 990 990 and the girls will chat it through.

      Enjoy your mixer

      Happy Cooking

      • Hi Jo
I have recently purchased a KS150 Kitchenaid, I was given a Kenwood when i was married 30 plus years ago and after seeing one of your demo fell in love withy the Kitchen aid. I am interested in your comment re the ice cream maker, as I was thinking of purchasing one from Amazon. What is your suggestion?

        Ta Maria

      • Hi Maria,
How lovely, you will adore using your KitchenAid mixer. Take care not to over mix your cakes, doughs, batters etc once you add the flour… as the planatary actio of te KitchenAid mixers to 67 places in the bowl….

Ice cream attachment: NO please do not buy from Amazon, as this will be an American attachment and will not fit onto your Australian machine. Also you will not have the 12 month warranty. These mixers and some of the attachments are made especially for each country through out the world, with various power suppliers, mixer models and safety requirements etc.

The attachments are available from KitchenAid stockists. You will be able to get it and all other attachments from the same suplier your mixer came from.
        Happy Cooking

        Jo

  37. Hi Jo
I’m thinking of either getting the food processor or the blender. Can the food processor be used for mincing and pureeing soup?
    Thanks Jo

    • Hi Emily,
The food processor will do many things for you. Chopping, slicing, mixing mixtures like basic cakes, whipping egg white, kneading dough, chopping meat (like mincing but technically not like a mincer proper ) and yes soups.

Blenders are fabulous for Cocktails, ICE, drinks, puree, batters and curry paste kind of mixtures.
There is an overlap between the food processor and the blender, but i think the processor does more.
The KitchenAid food processor and blender are both die cast metal, incredibly fast, easy to use and come with the KitchenAid name. Oh and of course the colours are sensationl!

I hope I have helped you

      Jo

  38. Hi Jo,
I am seriously considering purchasing my 1st kitchenaid KSM150 thru TVSN as my 18 year old daughter has a passion for cooking and baking, watching the shows with yourself and Geoff is awesome, I am always learning something new that the appliance does. Recently i saw a commercial with Nigela with her upcoming Christmas special to be aired and noticed a fushcia pink colour mixer in her comercial, this is the colour i would LOOOVE to purchase and was wondering if you can work with the buyer at TVSN on bringing this colour across.

Look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you very muich, keep up the great work.

    Serious Buyer
    Georgia

    • Hi Georgia,

thank you for your lovely email. yes i like working with Geoff – he is such fun and yes i think the segments are informative, interesting and we produce yummy recipes too!

I love that Nigella loves her KA too – see we all do!.
In the pink we have a soft pastel pink (very pretty), the newest colour to hit Australia is the Blueberry. It has been really popular. The classic Almond Cream never dates?
There are many choices. I have not noticed the advert you mean (I shall look out for it). But there is a special 90th Anniversary colour ‘Candy’ – maybe that is the one you mean ? This colour was realeased for the 90th birthday last year.

How lucky is your daughter, she will be over the moon and treasure her mixer for ever!
Oh and of course she will be cooking like Nigella with it….

      Happy Cooking
      Jo

  39. Hi Jo,
can you tell me if the pouring shield that comes with the K5 Deluxe also fits the KSM150 and if so can I buy one as an optional extra, I find the shield included with the KSM150 not enough cover to stop food flying up.
Other than that I love my mixer and I am looking forward to adding to my collection of accessories.
    Karen.

    • Hi Karen,
The pouring shield fits both models. Can I recommend you reduce the speed you are mixing on initially until the mixture has mixed in a little and then increase the speed. The food should not really be flying up?
If I knew what you where mixing I could advise a little more. If it is flour you are adding- please mix as little as possible as you run the risk of toughening the batter…. speed 1 to incorporate flour.

So love it you love your mixer!
      Happy Cooking

      Jo

  40. Hi,

I’m not sure which one to buy, the KSM 150 Artisan or the K5 deluxe mixer. I intend to use the mixer among other things for dough (1150 gram) once or twice a week. Can you please give me some advice?

    • Hello,
Definately the K5 is the choice. The larger sized attachments and extra power will so benefit your uses. I use bith models everyday! But always advise the K5 for dough, pasta etc.
The total weight capacity for the KSM 150 is 1.2 kg – the K5 is 1.6 kg. Better to get the larger and be kinder to the motor…. this will ensure LONG LONG LONG time use. The K5 is considered mpre of a commercia machine. You can also do very smal amounts in either model….
      You will LOVE your mixer.

  41. Hello Jo,

I was wondering if you knew whether KitchenAid will be releasing an almond cream coloured kettle anytime soon? I have the mixer, blender, food processor and toaster all in the almond cream and would love to complete my set with the kettle!

Thanks, and love the products!! They are amazing :)

    Jo :)

    • Hi Jo,
Wow what a super almond cream line up you have… your kitchen must look beautiful.
No sorry NO word at all on a kettle… but goodness it would be lovely….. but red for me please!!

  42. Hi Jo,
I have been researching, it feels like for weeks, well, maybe for only 5 hours…… the KA 600 6Qt professional. Jo I cannot seem to find it here in Aust. I am a chef an love the idea of a bigger bowl, and a bit more power than the Artisian/ K5 mixers to be used in the workplace. Are they in OZ, coming? Please let me know…. One more thing, what is the difference between the KSB555 Blender and the KSBS blender, would appreciate your feed back.
    Thanks Sarah

    • Hi Sarah,
The best oprion for you here in Aust is the K5SS. There is also a ‘commercial’ model which has a cut out switch. (KPM50). They are tremendous work horses an will be invaluable to you. The planetary action of the KitchenAid brand is like now other machine and of course the direct drive feature means the power is right above the bowl. As you said you have spent hours researching – so you know all of this!
Yes there are larger capacity mixers in the USA, but at this stage they are not available here.
The new member to the KitchenAid family is the KBS 555. It is a step up from the older blender (KSBS). The 555 is soooooooooooooooo efficient and has a special action for crushing ice. The ‘glass’ jug has measurements and is larger in capacity. There is also a lighter ‘sspecial plastic’ jug available for the 555. There may be some of the older KSBS blenders around at some retailers , but slowly these will be deleted.
I hope I have helped you, any futher questions the team on customer service are fabulous and can answer further technical stuff for you. 1800 990 990. For any recipe / technique help- I am always here.
      Happy Cooking
      Jo

  43. Thanks Jo, that’s excellent, I’ll give them a bell, the variety is somewhat confusing for a noob.

I’m just starting out in the food industry, going from a high paid executive to a underpaid over-worked foodie who can face each day with passion.

    thanks again

  44. Hi,

I’m looking at using a kitchenaid principally as a meat grinder for sausage meat; about 2.5kg at a time. I’m also wishing to have a go at emulsified sausages so the meat needs to be beaten in the bowl with the paddle peater.

I’m thinking that the professional version with the 6lt bowl might be the go. Any ideas?

    • Hi Ross.
The standard domestic model (KSM 150) will certingly handle 2.5 kg of mincing and sausage stuffing daily & at a time. You however have more choice… the K5 delux is a little more powerful again and has larger attachments…. this means the mixing / beating of the mince mixture would be useful. There is also a commefial model KPM50- this model has a cut off swictch, meaning if you are overworking the motor is will cut out.
You can call customer service on 1800 990 990 and discuss these options with the team.

      Happy cooking
      Jo
Are you in the food industry your self?

  45. Hi Jo,

I have just purchased a KitchenAid mixer and used it for the first time today. After creaming butter and sugar, I found that the creamed mixture sticks to the bottom of the bowl when other ingredients such as eggs, flour & liquid are added. Is there any way of avoiding this other than removing the bowl and scraping the bottom after each addition of flour?

    Thanks
    Marcelle

    • Hello Marcelle,

Sometimes this happens, particularly in winter – the stainless steel bowl is cold and setting the creamed mixture. In the cooler months I always rinse the bowl in hot water to warm it up (I then use this water in the sink to rinse my dishes as I cook – helps keep me tidy)!
The stainless steel bowl is wonderful for keeping ingredients cool (fabulous) in summer and this prevents mixtures curdling and splitting. As the KitchenAid is a commercial style appliance is it designed for hot kitchens where the ovens are blazing.

So once the bowl is warm, quickly dry then pop in the butter (soft room temp so in cold months you might need to give it burst in the microwave of pop into a bowl of a little boiling water. The butter must be soft to whip up. Using the flat beater, beat the butter lightly then add the sugar. Cream on speed 6 or 8 and begin adding the eggs once the mixture is lightly and fluffy. I usually wipe the bowl dpown a couple of times during the mixing.

Once you are used to this new technique you will be producing beautiful cakes with a fabulous texture and mouthfeel.

Happy Cooking & enjoy that lovely mixer!
      Jo

  46. Hey Jo,

Thank you so much for your reply!

I am also concerned regarding the material that the beaters are made out of. I cannot seem to find much information apart from them being nylon coated. I heard that this gets strip off real easily with frequent use. Please advise.

    Kelly

    • hi kelly,
the coating on the beaters is very durable. i have beaters that have been used for many years with no wear & tear at all. I think you might be referring to the coating coming off ONLY if the beater is too low in the bowl and scraps against the bottom of the bowl. this is easily heard as a scrapping sound. the ‘bowl to beater’ clearance can easily be ajusted with a little turn of the adjustment screw which is very visable in the ‘neck’ of the mixer when the head is lifted. the setting at the factory is placed at 1mm – which is normally perfect.
if you do need to adjust this it takes a second – you only need a flat bladed screw driver.
please do not be concerned with the coating… it really is very durable.
if it was a problem i promise you kitchenaid would have rectified the coting years ago.

i hope i have helped you
      Jo

    • Hi Kelly,
The standmixer is an all metal construction- the total thing – except for the fuse gear which has a nylon section. This is specifically desighned this wasy so it can easily and affordably be replaced if machine is ever overloaded (total weight capacity of 1.5 kg). This is about double 2 x 750g loaves of bread or a double quantity of pasta. The only time you can be weary of overloading is with doughs and must use the mixer on speed 2. This speed also duplicated the spead asper which you should knead for good volume and gluten development. I use all 10 speeds for beating cakes, mincing, grinding, whipping etc – from 6 -10 mostly depending on what i am cooking and the technique needed.

The mixer is incredibly durable and weighs 13.5 kg!

I can not speak highly enough of the performance, strength, durabilty and of course the look.

I hope i have helped you

      Jo

  47. Hi Jo,

Thank you so much for your quick reply. Yes I made scones on Saturday and it didn’t happen; made pastry Sunday and it DID as it has before when making pastry. But hey, its a minor thing and certainly something I can live with. Still easier than mixing by hand!

Yes, I love my appliances and have been browsing the recipes on the website. I have already printed some of them out that I am going to try.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Regards, Tania
PS Love the Mixer DVD. Would also love to see you feature the processor and blender in another?? I live in a small town so don’t have the chance to see the demos. Cheers

  48. Is there any way to buy a Lavender K5 in Australia any longer? My wife would love one but i haven’t been able to find one anywhere.

She might have to settle for pink…

    • hi simone,
sorry no lavender… yes the pink is the best choice – very pretty! also $ 25 goes to breast cancer reseach. so is a mixer with a good heart too.
      happy cooking
      jo

  49. Jo, I have the KSM150 stand mixer and I love it. I have been saving feverishly for some attachments, but now wondering if I should get the food processor instead….. I grew up in a home that NEVER used a food processor so don’t know what it’s capabel of and I’m not one for a million different gadets. Is there much double up with the food processor and the mixer attachments? I ‘m struggling to get my head around it all!!!!

    • hi kellie,
yes i know! this is a constant question for many and to tell you the truth it is all about your needs!
yes the standmixer with attachments just about does everything… as a base you need the food grinder (mincing etc) and rotary shredder slicer (slice, shred, chop) . After this more attachments are great such as the food mill and pasta roller & cutter set.
you can do most things except puree say a soup. pastry & scones are excellent in the standmixer – you just need a little practice as it is a new technique and initially most people over mix them and make them tough. the standmixer is so very quick!

however, the food processor is sensational for pastry, scones and pureeing. but them again the blender is also the best at pureeing and batters, smoothies, not to mention ice!

see now i am talking about 3 applinances – sorry!

but as you have a standmixer, i think you would benefit from adding attachments and then if you still need more get the processor and then the blender!!

      happy cooking

      Jo
i use my standmixer every day (usually with one of the attachmentsand the processor

  50. Hi Jo, I got the food processor for christmas and have not yet used it as all the parts seem overwhelming. I also have the kitchenaid blender and stand mixer. Are you running any cooking classes in Sydney

    • Hi katrina,
The food processor is fantastic and yes initially it looks like there are attachments, extra and additional bits & pieces! Don’t worry – soon you will be an expert.
please have a look on the Peter Mcinnes website for the in store demonstartion programe. I also am on a foxtell show twice a month. Are you able to watch TVSN . the next segment is on at 1.30 pm. on the 22nd April.
NO, I do not have any classes planned for Sydney.
However let me give you a couple of tips
      1. the processor has 3 bowls. there is also a box that holds all the blades & discs. There is also a citrus press – these fits into the biggest bowl.
      2. The biggest bowl must always be on the motor for the unit to work. The large ‘all purpose’ blade sits into the biggest bowl.
      3. The ‘medium’ bowl sits inside the big bowl and the ‘slicing & shredding’ discs are mostly used in the medium bowl (but can ALSO be used in the big & medium bowls)
      4. The little bowl (for small amounts of say pesto, icings, mayonnaise etc) sits inside the big bowl and has its own little ‘all purpose blade’
      5. There are recipes pn the Peter McInnes web site too. Select the recipes tab, then select food processor recipes. I have written the recipes so they are easy to follow. To begin with try the coconut cup akes & purhaps the spanish style meatballs.
Once you begin cooking with the processor you will love it!

Good Luck – begin playing with the processor, select a recipe from the recipe website and then add a couple of your own…soon you will use it constantly – it is so effecient.
      happy cooking
      Jo

  51. Hi Jo,
I seem to be having a hard time finding a store that sells the K5. KSM150 is very popular.
Could you suggest where about can I find a K5?
You mentioned in one the post that K5 has got 5 colors (4 colors now). So far I could only find 3 (red, cobalt blue and yellow) what are the other colors?

Thank you so much. Enjoyed the last tvsn show very much last week.

    • Hello,
I am not sure what state you are in in Australia. The K5 is normally solad as cookware specialty stores such as essential ingredients or chefs hat in melbounre. please cal custamer service on 1800 990 990 and the gals will source your nearest retailer.

I am lucky enough to have a magestic yellow & empire red K5 mixers. I think the availble colours are white, red, cobalt blue and possibly brushed nickel… but please confirm this with michelle or lee.

TVSN is such fun, i enjoyed cooking with the lovely suzie last week too
      Thank you

      Jo

      • Thanks Jo.
        That is very useful information.
I am in Melbourne and will check out essential ingredients tomorrow morning.
        Thanks again.
Can’t wait to get my first K5.

        Regards,
        Medaline

  52. I have the kitchenaid mixer and I’d like to attach to it the mincer. I would like to know if the meat mincer can also be used to mince fish.

    Thanks a lot
    Iris

    • absolutely iris, you can mince any meat, fish, chicken with lovely combinations also any cooked meat or raw , or vegetable, fruit, herbs etc.
a good tip is too have the meat / chicken / fish well chilled.

      happy cooking
      jo

    • absoloutely iris also any other meat, chicken, vegetable , fruit and delicious combinations.

  53. sigh! I can only find 1 photo of blueberry on the net but it is a small pic and I can’t quite get to see the colour I don’t suposse you have a close up photo of one do you?? funny enough Yellow is my other favourite colour.but I have my heart set on purple.I am thinking they probably won’t bring one out until there 100th birthday and then that would make sense.(cause it is such a wonderful colour)I don’t think I could wait another 10 years for a purple,my kids would all have left home by then and noone to cook for.lol.thanks for looking into this for me.

    • Yes, i have a suggestion.
Please watch TVSN on sunday 28th at 1.30 pm. i will be cooking with the blueberry mixer. You can also watch on line if you do not have foxtell.
TVSN also has great prices and extras when purchasing. The show is live.

      • oh Great! yes I have fox, luckily I am sick, so I am home this week end,and will be watching,I never really watch that show, reminded me of the guy with the steak knives, but now that I know that kitchen aid is on there, (oh and you jo).lol I will start watchling it. please let it be more purple please.fingers crossed oh with the blueberry do they come inn any other appliances?? thanks Jo

      • oh boysenberry…….. that i can see on the net,yes I did watch your show on tvsn it does look like a simular purple i’ve been looking for, will check it out at the shops.thanks………………….

  54. ohhhh God :( Thanks for your help I will check out the blue berry :/ one boohoo , I have waited 7 years. I think I can hang out for another year. gad damm it.I wish these people that choose the colours would google what a girls favourite colour is.grrr. Seems even royalty can’t get one if they wanted to.lol
Purple stands out as a feminine colour because it is chosen almost exclusively by women as a favorite colour and is strongly disliked by men. Traditionally associated with royalty, the colour purple is also spirtual, romantic, and mysterious.
Thanks for your reply. Sorry so disappointed.

  55. Hi Jo,
When will purple k5 come on the market? I have been waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting for a bright purple one, and will they have other appliances to match.

    • hello,
purple vs purple! well a beautiful new colour has just arrived – blueberry. she looks purple – but i am thinking you may want a true purple colour and that at this satge is not availble to us in australia. the blueberry and yellow pepper and rather special.

as far as matching – hmm i have to say NO. the processor and blender will not feature in these colours at this stage.
i hope i have helped you – please check out the blue berry

  57. Hi Jo,

I just recieved a new Kitchen Aid as a gift, and its an absolute dream! I have already used it to make a batch of cookies. But I hope to keep it as new and pristine as possible. I was wondering if there are standard covers that you can get to protect the kitchen aid, and if so, where can I get them (other than from ebay).

    Cheers.

  58. Hi Jo.
I was a little disappointed to read the running time of my KitchenAide Mixer is recommended to be 10 minutes as it does get hot. It is a little difficult if you have to do a few things with the Unit and need to stop star every 8 to 10 minutes. Could you please tell me how to get around this problem and how long does the Unit need to be rested before re using it again..
    Thanks Jo for your advice.

    • Hi Guy,
10 minutes in the KitchenAid standmixer is actually a really long time. Most breads will knead within 4 minutes or so and creaming butter and sugar will onlky take a maximum of 4 or so minutes. … often it is ready within 3 minutes.

The mixer has a fabulous planetary action which moves the beater to so many points in the bowl (67 for the whisk attachment). I actually have only one rcipe for a special snow pavlova which is 10 minutes stright whisking. Yes after this you would turn the machine off and allow it to cooldown a little.

As the standmixer is so robust it is used in many many rstaurants & cafe’s where it is truely put through it’s paces!

Let me know any recipes you have that you might want longer mixing than 10 minutes, in 9.9 % of occasions the recipe will not need this much mixing if the KA standmixer is used.

Cooling only takes a few minutes and i use this time to have a little tidy up and meausure of of ingredients… truely you will not find this little cooling time a problem

I hope i have helped you

      Jo

  59. Hi Jo,

I’ve just bought the grinder attachment for my mixer and am trying to learn how to make the most of it. Can i only put cooked vegetables through it or can it take raw ones? (I don’t have a food processor). I’d love a list of things you can do with it or some recipes – have you seen any links to something like this online? What do you use the grinder for?

    • Hi Anita,
The grinder is my favourite attachment. You cannuse it for all cooked and raw meats, vegies, fruitsa, bread etc. it is however not suitable for coffee beans or nuts as these are too oily and the wrong size to fit into the grinder workings (they jam the unit). Pop onto u tube and select kitchenaid food grinder… you can watch me cooking & explaining a little more.
      happy cooking … mincing!
      Thanks for your question

  60. Hi Jo,

I would like to know if the kitchen aid food processor is the appropriate appliance for grinding chillie into a fine & smooth paste… (ie. no seeds left over). Thank-you.

    Blessings,
    Karen

    • Hi Karen,
the KA food processor has three bowls. The small bowl with the small blade is good for a chili paste BUT you would have the seeds etc. Unless you split the chili beforehand and scrap out the seeds.
There is a fabulous attachment which fits onto the standmixer (there are several fabulous attachments that do various things) but the ‘food strainer’ ‘ removes the skin, pith and seeds through a seperate chute which results in a smooth puree – however you would need to do commercial syle quantities to make it useful – also the food must be cooked and therefore softened for the strainer.

I think the food processor is the appliance that best suits you in this instance.

  61. Hi Jo,

Just wondering if you have any tips for a Pavlova. Every time I attempt a Pav, it looks spectacular until the cooling process and then it breaks and flops in the centre. Would you have any tips.

    Thanks so much.

    Athena

    • Try leaving the pavlova to cool in the oven until cold. Reduce the cooking time by a few minutes to allow for the oven to cool down, gradually. Try adding a pinch of cream of tartar to your mix also. Hope this helps. Carol

      • thanks carol. beacuse of your tips posted , i looked back for antheas question to me on pav making – eek… i don’t think i answered her. oops! i have now and between the two of us i hope she is making fabulous pavs soon

        jo

    • hello athena,
goodness i don’t think answered you – oops! so therefore sorry for the delay… please read on!
for pavlova firstly do have a kitchenaid standmixer? i am guessing so – hopefully yes. the way the planetary action beats stabilises the mixtures so well – the end result is fabulous. there are a couple of smallish tips like adding a pinch of cream of tartare to the egg whites before beating and cooling the meringue slowly – these tips some cooks swear by – i simply stand by the beating / stabilising of the mixture.
the whole issue and result is based on the way the egg whites are beaten. the mixture must be very stable and extreamly firm – so beat very well until the sugar is completely dissolved in the meringue (rub a little inbetween your fore finger and thumb and it needs to feel very smooth not gritty. gritty is undissolved sugar)
bake the meringue on the middle shelf of the oven on about 150C. cook until dry and crisp and leave the door ajar during the cooling.

i hope this helps you. please also check out my recipe for vanilla snow pavlova on http://www.pepermcinnes.com.au

      good luck

  62. Hi

Can you use the food grinder attachment to the stand mixer to grind biscuits (hard ones like gingernuts) for a cheesecake base. I dont have a food processor.

    Cheer
    Natalie

    • hi natalie,
absolutely the food grinder is great for grinding biscuits ( and vegentbles, firm cheese, bread, herbs, some nuts etc etc). be sure the attachment and grinding plates are dry before you begin to keep the biscuit crumbs dry.

  63. Hi Jo,

I purchased a kitchenaid a couple of years ago in pink & absolutely love it, I was wondering when will kitchenaid bring out the other products in all the colours, as I would like eveverything to match. I just love watching you on tvsn, its so enjoyable to watch someone who is passionate about what they do.

cheers & a very happy new year to you.
    Kristina

    • hi kristina,
thank you for your lovely comment – and i love the segments on TVSN too – the presentors are all delightful and lots of fun.
the pink colour is also available in the blender. sadly not at this stage for the processor or toaster, but i think the pink looks great with almond cream – very pretty combination.
      happy cooking

  64. Hi Jo,

I am wondering what the difference is between the K5 Delux Mixer and the Artisan series. I am a home user and was brought up with the kenwood chief and am looking at upgrading, but wanted to know the difference. Any advise would be appreciated.

    • hi joann,
the artisan / KSM 150 is the standard home domestic model. It has a laod limit of about 1.5 kg total weight. The larger model which is the K5 delux has a load limit of about 1.65 kg total weight but also has much larger attachments. I actually have both models in the test kitchen and enjoy using both. Both have direct drive, and all the other great KitchenAid benefits. The K5 is a good choice if you wish to regularly make pasta and bread. You will amazed at how beautifull the KitchenAid mixers mix and how very quiet the motor is. Oh the other choice is colour …. the K5 has 5 choices (thats if the ‘yellow’ is still available otherwise 4 colours) the KSM 150 has 20 colours.
which ever model you will soon be a kitchenaid fan ….fanatic (as i like to say)
      happy cooking

  65. hi, thanks for your response I am being told it could have been damaged in transet something about oil spilling out causeing the slider to cease i just dont know why it would only be the beater slider and not the one that makes the top lift.
    but thanks

  66. oh dear,
i think your mixer might need a little service. the speed control lever should move….. the good thing is everything can be easily fixed!

please call 1800 990 990 and ask for customer service. lee or michelle will help you with service agents etc

    cheers,
    jo

  67. I know professional chefs/cooks use a copper bowl to whip egg whites and only use the bowl for this purpose. Should home users use an extra bowl for egg whites only, would the quality be better than using the bowl for everything.

    Regards,
    Barb G

    • Hi,
you know a copper bowl is such a tresusre and pleasure to own – but yes very special! I use mine regularly and the result is truely sensational BUT the stainless stell bowl is the absolute next best thing. Now a second bowl is really handy – i think you would get lots of use and ease having two – but NO you do not need to have one especially for egg whites. Stainless performs well for all textures, consisitencies and mixtures and only needs to be washed and well dried in hot soapy water.
      happy cooking

  68. thanks for the quick reply. Another question? Would the food processor, grind the adzuki beans (hard bean) to a fine texture. I would like to use it as a facial scrub, rather than buy it from the beauty shop.

    Regardsm

    Barb G

    • The food processor would grind cooked beans – for dried beans I would recommend the food mill attachment on the standmixer. The mill can do very fine powder like grinding or course – very easy to use

  69. I would like to know if you can purchase the glass jug to the blender, if you accidently break it. Also if you can purchase the food processor bowls, if they break.

    Regards,
    Barbara Gardiner.

    • Absolutely barbara – everything is available if something accidently happens. However the matierals used are the best of quality – so you may never ever need to replace!
