Hi laurel,
The answer is Yes & No!! The USA models require a transformer for them to work here. The transformer is an ugly large black box that will need to sit on your bench. It also makes a weird noise and the overall power thats reaches the standmixer is reduced :( Finally the transformers are not cheap.

The USA models will NOT have any waranty in Australia.

Keep the Aust version in your sites, you will so love the rubsut, effecirecy and quite direct drive motor. The Aust models come with a 5 year warranty.

I hope I have helped you

Hi Sandra,
Oh dear, I feel for you. Please dont worry or stop using your standmixer I will HELP!! I have heard of your issue before and it has in every case been solved!

It is simply the different way the standmixer wirks, I feel you are uncreaming the butter and sugar and over mixing once the flour is aded.

Could I ask you please look at some of recipes on the "official" recipe website on www.kitchenaid.com.au Please look up the perfect cup cakes. They are completely delicious and you will achieve a perfect result.

There are also a couple posts I have written on my ask jo blog about cakes.
In the last blog about chocolate cake I have posted a step by step image (picture ) guide. Please have a look at this as it will show you how very light and fluffy the butter and sugar needs to be and the mixture as you beat the eggs in.

There is also a past blog about a lemon tea cake - this will also help.
Please let me know how you go, I will not let you down we will solve it. Please dont go back to your hand mixer/ or any other mixer!

Many very famous cake makers use KitchenAid - Martha Stewart, Nigella, Donna Hay, Stephanie Alexander, Belinda Jeffrey....... to name a few. I promise you, once you gave achieved your cupcakes, you will go on to be LOVE your mixer (pls note KitchenAid does NOT pay any celebrity or chef to use their product... it is used as they want it and love the way it works).

I hope to hear from you soon

Keep Baking

Hi Jo,
Please help....I bake alot of cakes and am well known for my light fluffy cup cakes! My lovely husband gave me an artisan stand mixer for christmas - I was thrilled! however, every cake I have made with the new mixer has sunk in the centre when cooked. This has never happened to me before. I have tried everything, using the wire whisk to cream the butter and sugar, an all in one method recipe and tonight using the flat beater I made a lemon and yogurt cake which looked perfect until towards the end of cooking when it promptly sunk in the middle! My mixer came with the large glass bowl and because I was having problems I purchased a stainless steel bowl as our weather has been very warm lately. Still no success! Please help - I feel like I want to go back to my hand mixer or do I start making bunt cakes!!!!

Hi reva,
Lovely to hear you like your standmixer!

This months post on ask jo was all about the chocolate cake, the recipe is on there too. It also has a step by step image to follow, so your result will be perfct.

No sorry i have not as yet made macaroons, they are on my to do list... i have watched chefs make them abn the main tricks are
1. dont use fresh fresh eggs
2. the trick is in the piping of them to get the perfect shape
3. allow them to stand to form a skin (about 5 mins) bfre baking

I will do some soon, I would like to make rich chocolate ones I think!

Happy Baking
Jo

I also have many recipes to choose from, but sometimes find they do not work!

Hi Trudie,
The K5 is a 'more commercial' model. It is generally found in resaurants and cafes. It has larger attachments which means it can mix a larger amount in the bowl.
We recommend if you are going to be baking bread and making pasta regularly , you would benefit form the larger size. It also has a 'bowl lift' lever in stead of the tilt head.
When creating recipes i work between both models.
The KSM150 has a total weight capacity of 1.5 kg
The K5 capacity is 1.7 kg

Both the KSM150 & the K5 are hand essembled in the USA, come with a 5 year warranty and are of solid metal construction and of course have the famous direct drive motor (no belts) and 67 points touched in the bowl, with the iconic planetary mixing action. The mixers are 94 years old in design this year.

Th KSM150 has many many choices in colour, the K5 are available in a few colours.

You might like to look at some of my many mnay (there are hundreds) of recipes on the website (www.kitchenaid.com.au) these will inspire you.

I do not know anything of the other brands to asist you with

I hope I have helped you

Hi Sue,

Hmmm i think the buns where a nicer one simply found at the supermarket. No i did not make them for the segment. However I did all the other bread, cakes, all the other food was completley made by me and the food team.
Bread recipes there are some of the www.kitchenaid .com.au website

The barley bread is simpky delicious, but you will also find a simply classic bread on their too. Each month 3 new recipes are released... there are more coming!

The meat for the burger is down in the food grinder (it is so one of my favourite attachments)

Happy Cooking
